Abu Gosh Town Council Chairman Salim Jabar: Champion of True Peace

Among the leaders of the Arab world, Mr. Salim Jabar stands out as a champion of true peace. Town Council Chairman of the Israeli Arab city Abu Gosh, south of Jerusalem, he was a guest speaker at the annual Messiah convention at the Blumfield Stadium in Tel-Aviv on 11 Nissan this year. Praising the Lubavitcher Rebbe King Messiah who lives forever as a true leader of all mankind, he cited the Rebbe King Messiahs ability to reach out to people of all faiths and denominations, and to unite them around a single common purpose: the bringing of Messiah through observance of the seven Noahide laws given by the Creator of the world to Moses at Mount Sinai.
The great Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Lubavitch, he said, explained to all humanity that only education based on faith in the Creator of the world can raise people to live a life of justice and honesty. The Rebbe endows us with spiritual fortitude and a concrete path upon which to connect with the younger generation.
In an interview with Mr. Jabar, Messiah Times had an opportunity to find out more about this extraordinary public servant.

Mr. Jabars family has lived in Abu Gosh for six generations. The village today a city – was named after his great-great-great grandfather, Isa Abu-Gosh. Under his able leadership, Abu Gosh has undergone a renewal, as resources are invested in upgrading the citys infrastructure. Mr. Jabars belief in G-d and adherence to a strict code of ethics are the citys base for success.
People who live together have to have respect and tolerance for each other even if they disagree on matters. Even if a person has been wronged, he mustnt take revenge because revenge reflects a lack of faith in G-d. Leave something to G-d.
Theft and betrayal are especially anathema to Mr. Jabar. His repudiation of these vices is as forthright in his political views as it is on an interpersonal level.
You cant betray. You benefit from the land in which you live, you receive funds and assistance from its government. Even if youre dissatisfied with certain aspects, you cant betray those from whom you benefit you cant stab them in the backIts imperative for people to honor their countrys security forces and its arm of law-enforcement. Otherwise anarchy reigns.
These principles, which echo the tenets of morality contained in the Seven Noahide Laws, are the guiding force behind a new museum soon to be built in Abu Gosh called The Museum of Redemption. Aimed at unifying the nations of the world around faith in One G-d, the central exhibit of this groundbreaking endeavor will feature a portrayal of international peace, co-existence and faith in G-d during the Messianic Era.
Alongside his efforts in the public arena, Mr. Jabar is no less eager to influence his Jewish acquaintances to fulfill their own G-d given destiny, as he urges them to observe the commandments of the Torah. During this interview, he made a special request to receive a detailed list of the Rebbe King Messiahs Ten Mitzva Campaigns so that he can distribute them among the Jewish employees of the Abu Gosh Town Council.
Nothing expresses Mr. Jabars driving spirit of sincere faith in G-d as the eloquent conclusion to his address at the Messiah Convention:
When the Rebbes emissaries arrived, we were very happy to host them and to be the first to sign the declaration in Arabic calling for observance of the Seven Noahide Laws. We hope that all the communities in our land, and all the countries in the area will follow in our footsteps and sign and observe this declaration, as well, because this is the true path to peace among the nations. In this way, we will be more prepared for the complete Redemption that is about to come, and we will merit a place in the World to Come.
I would like to make the most important pronouncement in Hebrew, and afterwards, repeat after me, word for word, in Arabic:
Long live our Master, Teacher and Rebbe King Messiah forever and ever!
And now after me, in Arabic:
Yaish Saiduna umaalimuna drabana el malak – el moshiach lalam ulabed.

Yaish Saiduna umaalimuna drabana el malak – el moshiach lalam ulabed.

Yaish Saiduna umaalimuna drabana el malak – el moshiach lalam ulabed.

InOverOurHeads – Rough Expectations (reloaded) – Episode 2 Part 1 – Mind-Bending Jewish Reality TV

Posted by genglish on March 16th, 2010 and filed under Jewish TV | No Comments »

InOverOurHeads is a mind-bending reality series that sneaks a peek at the crazy lives of a few close friends.

Episode 2 deals with meeting expectations (community, parents, spouse, G-d, and self). In Jewish culture, these expectations can be so strong that they interfere with people’s ability to approach life in a sincere way.

Coping with the realities of their restless existence as young, Jewish parents, the cast debates the absurd, laughs at convention, and reevaluates their ideals in a humorous, yet introspective way. Maintaining a decorum not quite fitting for shul [synagogue], the topics wander into sensitive areas such as marriage, gender issues, and education. The discussions are honest and irreverent, often with a deep spiritual undertone. They rip apart stereotypes of observant Jews – although like most Jews, they hardly ever agree.
