The poem “Ya ribbon alam” (God lord of the world) Written by Rabbi Israel ben moshe Najara, one of the most important Jewish poets since the 16th century .
Rabi Najara (1550-1628)Lived In Safed (North Israel) in 1550, he also lived in Damascus and eventually moved to Gaza (South Israel), where he used as the Gaza jewish community rabi. He is buried in the ancient Jewish cemetery in Gaza. His son, Moses Najara was also a poet, who succeeded his father as the chief rabbi of Gaza.
Although the poet is Aramaic, this song gained widespread popularity
Throughout the jewish world.
After relating the wonders of god creation, the poet concludes with a prayer that God may redeem his people and lead them to his chosen sanctuary in Jerusalem, where the souls will rejoice with songs and meditations.

My South African wife, who came to me late in life, is Jewish, and has spurred many new interests in me, one of which is a fascination with the many awesome accomplishments of talented jewish artists. Here are some haunting works by the Jewish artist Mordechai Levanon, 1901-1968. Born in Transylvania, Romania, Levanon immigrated to Israel in 1921, where he studied at the Bezalel Art Academy. Like so many of his fellow Israeli artists, Levanon was fascinated by the country’s special light and the way it affects color. Thanks to his splendid body of work and his many paintings of the holy cities of Jerusalem and Sfad, Levanon is considered a major pioneer of Israeli art, and has even been called “the Israeli Van Gogh.”

The highlight of the Israel Museum’s newly installed Mandel Wing for jewish art and Life is a newly restored 18th-century synagogue from Suriname, one of only two remaining examples. This rare and striking South American synagogue stands alongside synagogue interiors from Italy, Germany, and India as part of the Museum’s new Synagogue Route, which offers visitors a rich experience with Jewish ritual traditions from around the world.
