Okay, so some guy whos almost 50 yrs of age keeps talking about salvation, spirituality etc and how he received the holy spirit in him to prove him the bible is gods word. But when asked to name any two jewish holidays, since judaism is the foundation of his faith, he was blank. So what is your opinion on this man?
There’s nothing Jewish about Xianity. They don’t have any use for such knowledge.

He is ignorant and deluded, just like everyone else who follows a religion or believes in a god.

An uneducated one. Most christians dont know how most holidays originated, including some of their own.

You condescending pratt. If you were knowledgeable and intelligent you wouldn’t post smug crap like this.

I’d conclude he hasn’t read his own bible.

Since religions are fairly well compartmentalized, I would say that isn’t strange. It is expected that you know your own holidays, not the other people’s. After all, they are taught that those other people are wrong, so why bother educating yourself on their foolish beliefs?

As a Jew, I’m not particularly surprised. Very few Christians, in my personal experience, know much about Judaism at all.
I grew up as a Protestant Christian (long story as to why, and I won’t bore you). I was taught little about the "Old" testament in the church where I grew up, and my erstwhile denomination was one of the more liberal in the Protestant spectrum. My best friend was Catholic, and I didn’t see that she was taught any more than I was, so it’s not a question of one group being more ignorant than the other.
In my experience, huge numbers of Christians are taught, "Believe, and don’t worry about why" – maybe not in so many words, but in effect. That lack of intellectual curiousity was one reason I eventually converted to Judaism (although not the only or most important one), and I think it’s what will eventually be the downfall of many non-fundamentalist sects. They won’t be "killed;" they’ll simply die off with a whimper in a couple of generations, I suspect. Fundamentalists will take longer, but I have very little doubt that they, too, won’t last more than another century or two.

As a Christian with a decent understanding of Old Testament history, I would name Passover for sure… After that, I would probably go blank too. You say that Judaism is the foundation of his faith, but I would disagree. There is a huge difference between Christianity and Judaism! Yes, our predecessors in the faith were Jewish, but that was when Judaism and Christianity were one and the same thing – before Christ came to earth in human form. At that point, there was a major split between Christians who believed Jesus was God and the promised Messiah and Jews who refused to acknowledge Christ as more than a prophet – and in fact crucified him for blasphemy!!! So by implying that this man was foolish for not being able to name two Jewish holidays, you are demonstrating a clear lack of understanding of the Christian faith and the difference between it and present day Judaism.

He’s a born-again Christian who never read the Old Testament thoroughly enough to name Jewish holidays. Happens. There are other Christians who can’t name a single post-Apostolic Christian who lived between 100 A.D. and 900 A.D.
