Most shows that have Jewish characters in usually stereotype the Jewish character as nerdy and not very manly. For example Ross in Friends, Seth in the OC etc, and never really have the Jewish characters as confident ladies men. The only example I can think of where a Jewish character is portrayed as confident is Seth Rogen in 40 year old virgin and Knocked Up etc and the Jewish characters in the film Berlin, but they’re meant to work for Mossad anyway, but you rarely see a conventionally cool Jewish character on tv shows.
NO – Jewish people don’t find it offensive at all, they are comedy shows to make viewers laugh…
Ross in Friends has actually made some good movies like "The Uprising" more than just a confident character in the movie…
May be some stereotypes, like in the movie "Borat" if you haven’t seen it yet, it is by a Jewish person. They are just meant with humor. To make us laugh.
We laugh at stereotypes that aren’t true…

Author Christopher Hitchens discusses his views on the May, 2010 Israeli attack on the Gaza Freedom Flotilla. He argues that while the Gaza occupation is unjust, the activists on the flotilla most likely had ulterior motives.
—–
Christopher Hitchens, tackling nearly everything with unmatched enthusiasm, erudition and, at times venom, has up to now barely touched upon one subject: his own life.
After many years writing about world issues and traveling to some of the most dangerous places on the planet, comes his memoir Hitch-22. Though Hitchens can navigate any argument with great dexterity, his memoir focuses on those whom he has loved, those he has abhorred, and those who have helped shape him throughout his life. The memoir answers this question: How the did Christopher Hitchens become Christopher Hitchens?
With tenderness he writes about his parents — his mother Yvonne, in particular, “a beautiful woman who loves me” and about his father, Commander Hitchens, whose “liver was that of a hero.” In a form that is anything but shy, Hitchens describes his complex and warm relationship with his mother, whose Jewish heritage he discovered only after her suicide.
The memoir naturally touches upon friendships, both lost and found over the course of his life. Hitchens’ many sketches of friendships and ex-friendships from Martin Amis to Noam Chomsky, Edward Said to Gore Vidal are delivered in a style that is at once ironic, witty and tough-minded. A legendary bon vivant with an unquenchable thirst for literature, Hitchens has at times ridiculed those who claim the personal is political, even though he has often seemed to illustrate that very idea.
Paul Holdengräber, in conversation with Hitchens, will goad him to help bring into focus the many sides of Hitch, thereby illustrating Robert Frost’s dictum that “a liberal is a man too broad-minded to take his own side in a quarrel.” – New York Public Library

I was always curious if jewish people in Israel wear the full black clothing like I see on television. Thanks
Some do
While halachah emphasizes the qualities of the color black, and indeed, many Chassidic groups literally wear only black (and white), religious Jews generally dress in dark, solid, conservative, and businesslike styles, not necessarily in stark black.
There are several reasons for this code of conservatism:
1) To maintain a distinct identity
Our sages tell us that our forefathers survived the Egyptian exile for three reasons: they did not change their language, their names, or their style of dress. They maintained a distinct identity that helped them to prevent assimilating into Egyptian society.
2) To maximize human potential
There are two reasons human beings wear clothes: to protect the body from the elements, and to draw attention from other humans. In contrast to modern fashion that draws (unwarranted) attention to various base features of the human body, the Jewish dress code is unassuming, covering what we have in common with the animal kingdom (no details necessary), and exposing what distinguishes us from the animal kingdom (the head and hands).
3) Uniform responsibility
When you wear a uniform, it identifies you to others as someone bearing certain responsibilities. It also serves as a reminder to the one in uniform that his or her responsibilities are different from those not in uniform.
The Torah tells us that Jews are a "…nation of priests and a holy people (Exodus 19:6)." The Jewish dress code serves as a constant reminder of this.
I have been trying to find info on her, i get quite a bit but am not sure of this one…how she can have a German last name & is she Jewish? Said her ancestors died in Holocaust. Please help me, anyone. I am fascinated by this woman.
German Jews do exist. Many of the Jews that were tragically displaced and abused and murdered at the hands of Nazi party were (among other nationalities) German.
Because a person is of German decents does not mean that the same descendants coudn’t have been jewish.
I have been told before that there were number of Jewish people on the show. I have also been told a number of people behind the show were Jewish. People who made up the questions, and such. Joshua Malina was on this show a while back. Is there a list of other Jewish people who were on that show who won a lot of money or did something good with the money they received? Is it true that Jewish people are behind this show with questions?
Jeo— Jeopardy. With Alex as the host.

well, there are one or two, but you have to make sure your tin-foil hat is on just right, or little green Ruskies will read your thoughts.
NItzevet was not the Mother of David’s brothers and David was thus David was hated by his family and brothers. and was not in line when God was to choose a King of Israel
http://www.chabad.org/theJewishWoman/article_cdo/aid/280331/jewish/Nitzevet-Mother-of-David.htm
That is amazing. I saw a Show.. on Toronto TV and that name was mentioned and I looked it up. Very Little Info.. Thanks. It is not in the Bible. ( I couldnt find it . THX
The name of King David’s mother is not recorded in the Torah/OT/Bible.
It is said her name was Nitzevet, as found in the Talmud in tractate Bava Batra 91a.
I can not believe that the Hamas organization was created by the Jewish nation and that they were allies sometime in the past. Could someone who really knows explain. Please do not write your own opinion just write facts verifiable facts supply links thank you
To Pepper. You say: "I’ve not heard about this " I say: Neither do I before until I heard this expert on tv, that is why I put this question on yahoo.
You say: "you should post a link we can all discuss" I say: What am I going to discuss about when I have not got a clue, that is why I am asking.
You say:"To my knowledge, the Jews had nothing to do with the conception of "Hamas" I say: That is my understanding as well, that is why i ask the question You say:" and, if your facts are incorrect," I say: My facts? I have not got any facts You say:" it’s very insulting to write this post." I ask: Is it insulting to ask a question? You say:" You aren’t trying to create a rumour, are you?" I say: It appears that you must be living in a forest without radio,tv or papers. I said previously I do not want opinions I want a link to check the truthfulness of what this so called expert said. That is all.
it wasn’t
these so called experts are often no more than talking heads ….and most support the palestinians
hamas are just the latest manifestation of a long line of terrorist groups
they have nothing to do with israel …..they intend to destroy it along with their masters iran and syria
be aware of these experts …..they are invariably biased
There are Jewish characters but no one who is actively a member of the Jewish community
Krusty’s father has been on two episodes in 18 years!
The characters you have listed were not main characters of the shows you mention. and i don’t think that 1/7 instead of 1/10 is really that much of a markup if those are numbers you are going to quote.
There was a program during the 1980s called "Brooklyn Bridge", set in Brooklyn, New York, during the 1950s; its major character was a little Jewish boy who loved the (then) Brooklyn Dodgers baseball team. He had a brother, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles who were all practicing Jews. The drama was very touching and was also critically acclaimed but, unfortunately, not generally watched and was soon cancelled. Perhaps the answer is that the majority of Americans are non Jewish and may be disinclined to support programming where the central characters are Jews, or it might be that "Brooklyn Bridge" was in a competitive time slot or simply uninteresting to its intended audience .
