Yisroel Werdyger Ashira V’Azamrah Sampler

Posted by admin on April 27th, 2011 and filed under Jewish Entertainment | No Comments »

The all new album from Yisroel Werdyger is about to be released! The CD includes compositions by many composers such as Yossi Green, Yitzy Waldner, Pinky Weber, and Meshulam Greenberger, as well as the work of new talents. Why is Teem Productions so excited about this album? Producer Gershy Moskowitz explains: “when you have a debut album like Bayis Neeman that is so unbelievably successful, it’s easy to fall into the trap of trying to match it. Instead we went all out to create something so special that it would blow even Bayis Neeman away. As we are doing the final mixing and mastering and listening over and over, I can tell you that bechasdei Hashem I feel overwhelmingly confident that we have accomplished that goal in a very big way.” Moskowitz gives much of the credit to co-producer Yossi Tyberg and Shua Fried, the album’s arranger “Both of them are only too well known for their ability, but with their work on this album they both seriously took things to the next level.

What’s the name of that freaky,Jewish midget in those Harry Potter movies?

If you are talking about the midgets in the bank, they are goblins.
If you are talking about Dobby, they are called house-elves.

If I’m not Jewish, I can’t play Jewish music?

Posted by admin on April 25th, 2011 and filed under Jewish Music | 9 Comments »

I was practicing klezmer the other day because I had to perform the piece in a wedding, but one of my Jewish friends heard me and laughed.

She said "you’re not even Jewish. Why are you playing klezmer?"

I thought it was strange, and searched some background on klezmer. Sure enough, I was told that klezmer is "very rare" among non-Jewish. Am I looked down upon by other Jewish if I play klezmer without conjunction of being Jewish?

Oh – don´t say that – I love jewish music, too!
I love playing Spanish Pasadobles and I´m not Spanish. Ignore people who laugh at you – I do.

Did Hitler start hating Jews before or after he was turned down from art school?

Posted by admin on April 23rd, 2011 and filed under Jewish Art | 11 Comments »

Perhaps the ones who insulted his art and assaulted his pride were Jewish? Perhaps his wrath was the result of one huge damaged ego operating under a subconscious, displaced, and suppressed rage meting out a dictatorship built on one major association fallacy? If so, grudges sure run deep.

Unfortunately, Hitler, like a great many others of his age, grew up hating Jews.
There was great prejudice against Jews all over Europe then.
It was just how things were there then.
It’s one of the reasons many European Jews had already migrated to the US and Canada —- even many places in South America had / has large Jewish populations —- due to miserable prejudices in Europe.

Cambridge Mass. Schools Will Close for Muslim Holiday Beginning 2011

Posted by admin on April 20th, 2011 and filed under Jewish Holidays | No Comments »

Cambridge schools already close for some Christian and jewish holidays, and McGovern said he believes Muslims should be treated equally.

“The issue that sort of came up was should we celebrate any religious holidays, but there was not the will to take away Good Friday or one of the Jewish holidays,” he said. “So I said, if that is the case, I think we have an obligation to celebrate one of the Muslim holidays, as well.”

He said, “It just didn’t seem right that we would close for two of those religions (Christian & Jewish), but not for the third.”

(IMO-It is appropriate we don’t close for the third “religion” (ideology) because we are a Christian nation, not Islamic. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Saudi Arabia celebrates even one Christian holiday or doesn’t even allow a Christian church to be built, along with allowing Bibles in the country?)

The Girls From Brazil

Posted by admin on April 20th, 2011 and filed under Jewish Movies | No Comments »

After 20 years of being adopted and raised in Israel, a group of young women go back to Brazil to find their biological parents.

There are not enough children for adoption in Israel. During the 80’s hope arose for those seeking to have a child – Brazil.

Approximately 3,000 Israeli families flew to the carnival country to adopt a child. German and Italian families were also part of this adoption wave. In the meantime, the children, now grown-up, are traveling to their land of origin to look for the woman who gave birth to them.

Filmmaker Nili Tal follows four young Israeli women on such a voyage.

This is a moving trip to a third-world country, where women have four or five children from several men and another one somewhere in a far away place. It is also a personal voyage into each of the protagonists’ life bringing up issues concerning us all.
